I usually hate sprockets and find them to detract from composition. A loud distraction of hipster children. Here the sprockets add to the isolation and horror of the scene. The world is being eaten. Sprockets first.

Shadow detail is worse on this one, but this sort of helps for the dark atmosphere. Sprockets are fine for this photo.

Yeah, what's a bit of dust. It is beautifully desolate and Gothic.

I actually like the dust on this one, and I usually am not a fan of dust. It adds to the photo, make it look old a more creepy.

I'm a dust fan! Just shows that it's photography in it's basic form = darkroom + chemicals + who know if or how it will turn out!

i like how the tower is the main focus of the picture & how the light hits it & gives it that dark side at the same time, very nice :D

I like the dust. The sprockets make it obvious that it's film anyway so I think keeping the dust there is just being honest.

nice!!! though "professionals" would most likely hate the little lines and scratched, allow me to say I find they add a lot of character. great shot!!!

This is what a medieval photo would look like, i love that is magical and mysterious, i guess this is the kind of feeling that only 'handmade' things give you. GREAT
