Swamp - Cyanoprint stained with Green Tea - Not Bleached

I had printed this cyanotype and it came out a bit underexposed. After it was thoroughly dried, I stained it in a weak solution of green tea but did not do any sodium carbonate bleaching ahead of time. Also, all the blue color is removed from the print giving it the appearance of an antiqued B&W photo. It did sharpen up some of the details and it was an experiment worth trying. The original negative was a B&W photo taken in my 4X5 field camera. I'll try printing it again with a longer exposure time.

A good result without bleaching. You have to watch bleaching carefully

James i recognize Gerds Knob Swamp as it rests on my desk with all the other print exchanges. A stellar project in lomography

@lomodesbro Thanks Des! I'm glad you enjoy "The Swamp"...It's one of my favorite places to experiment with 4x5. I seem to be getting a good result without the bleaching. I did however have a print I went a little too far with exposure and tried to bleach it today. I was a little too heavy handed with the Sodium Carbonate and the print went from good to great to vanished in the blink of an eye! But the great thing about these prints is that they are fairly convenient and inexpensive to produce so I can try and try again...J.

James with bleaching you have to move from bleach to wash as soon as you see the colour change. We all make the mistake of leaving the print until it looks right before we remove to wash Anticipate that the print contnues to bleach in the wash

@lomodesbro Thanks again Des! Do you have a dilution formula for Na Co? I made the mistake of just dumping a handful of soda into my rinse pan. I can see now that only a weak solution is needed.
