I loaded my Canon AE-1 with Kodak Vision3 250D and headed out under the summer sun (it might have been the end of the year, but I’ve honestly lost track). Armed with a classic 50mm f/1.4 lens, I set off to capture moments that feel both nostalgic and cinematic, thanks to this repurposed motion picture film.

From playful pigeons cooling off in a fountain to vibrant pink bougainvilleas crowding the sidewalks, every shot came alive with those trademark Kodak colors. The sunsets were especially gorgeous—fiery clouds drifting across the sky, painting the horizon with intense orange and teal tones. I also stumbled upon a candid scene of someone holding a cat next to a vintage car, adding an endearing everyday vibe to the whole roll.

Shooting with the AE-1 was a joy in itself; that classic shutter sound and manual focus slow you down in the best way. The Vision3 stock brought out a subtle grain and a dynamic range that felt almost like stepping into an old-school film reel. It’s amazing how a simple walk around the neighborhood can become a cinematic adventure when you’ve got the right gear, the right film, and a dash of summer light.
