In my “MOSCOW MYTHS“ project, I have found a way of photographing and reinterpreting the past as the present. While subsequently returning to visit Moscow between 2004 and 2009, I have been keen to explore the current obsession with everything Russian: decomposing remains of the Soviet Union, Kremlin stars, fur hats and Rodchenko posters.
Shot on film using the double exposure technique with a variety of cameras, from the Canon Ae-1 to the Lomo Kompakt Automat the images are also cross processed to give vibrant and highly saturated colours.
this is my first ever bw film on lc-a. and my first self-developement // I shot this film very quickly in the lunch break. just was going to shoot the test roll for the test development. finally it was a lucky lunch break for me.
Images taken at a quarter of Osnabrück called Wüste (desert). The shots where made on film expired in 1990. Over the years the film lost nearly half of its speed and a lot of resolution so this dreamy soft look appeared. The photos look more like being taken with a Diana then the LC-A 120 which was actually used.

Shots of a nursery garden just at the side of the road on my way home. They grow skillfully cut conifers there before selling them. The tungsten film gives the scene a beautiful surreal look.

The Schinkel is a former living area for the workers of the Klöckner steel plant which was located near by the location these images were taken. The plant was closes in 1989 and was later demolished. The quarter was never the best one to live here but it is constantly changing with modern smaller houses more famelies and students living there. This images show the neighborhood were I lived a while ago which has not seen that much changes over the last 25 years. This little walk was a bit of a film test as well - I used the AgfaPhoto APX 400 New film pushed to ISO 1600 (developed in Kodak T-Max Developer). Not the best way to shoot this film as far as I am concerned.
