Does the rem jet just dissolve or do you still need to squeeze through a cloth ?

Hi @trad69, all the remjet seemed to be gone by the end of processing. I read a lot of people use bicarbonate of soda (sodium bicarbonate) but then read elsewhere that the soda crystals were what should be used (sodium carbonate) so I went with that option - I watched a vid of someone using bicarbonate of soda but they then had to wipe remaining remjet off, which I’d imagine risks damaging the emulsion side while you’re at it. Apparently, you can make bicarbonate of soda into sodium carbonate by baking it, but that’s seems a hassle when the soda crystals are very cheap and easy to buy. I dissolved 4 teaspoons of soda crystals in 500ml of warm water (about 100*F/37*C) then that went in the tank with the film on a reel, then shake for 30 secs, stand for 1 min, shake a further 30 secs then you’ll see the liquid that you pour out from the tank is black from the remjet. You then rinse several times in warm water before processing ....read some people don’t bother removing remjet at start, they process then put their chemicals through a filter to catch the remjet, and any remaining can be wiped off at the rinse stage.
