Sun to my back

Tried out my 2nd hand Takumar 28mm lens. For some reason I have this "flare" on the left side of the lens but it does not seem to matter where the light source is because the flare is on the left of the camera. A few pics it is absent or very faint. I am looking for input. I have a 28mm for my Canon and this never happened. Maybe I need to run another roll or inspect the camera for new leak?

Light leak would be my first guess, if the camera does the same with another lens then there's an issue with light seal somewhere on the body of course. That the leak is on the left on the photos (meaning issue on the right of the camera body, where the hinge and foam on a Zenit traditionally is) suggests this might be the case If it doesn't then it's somehow the lens, which might not be fixable :-(

@alex34. I just used the camera last month with its 50mm lens and did not see an issue. I guess I need to run a few rolls through it and test lens vs lens and I will inspect the seals on the right side. Thanks for the suggestion.

@neanderthalis I'm sure you're right, it might be a scratch or lens flare then?

@alex34 I can maybe try a lens hood too in the mix to see if that is a factor. I saw that in the article you linked.

@neanderthalis definitely worth a try, particularly given the effect is inconsistent. Good luck and happy shooting!
