Kodak Ultima (35mm, 100 iso) User-Review

18

A film that is good and cheap and exclusively for the Philippine market.

What intrigued me was the tag at the back of the pack that says: “for sale only in the Philippines”. What can I say? I must try out this film. The Kodak Ultima, 100 iso is priced at 55 pesos—that’s roughly about 1.11 USD, so it’s really cheap. But I’m not really a big fan of cheap films except for the Lucky Super film, but this one’s a Kodak, so I gave it a try.

I load it up with my Canon slr and the results turned out great. Very good contrast. The colors are reasonably accurate. The skin tone is a bit desaturated but that’s how I want it.

For its quality and price, it’s a 4.5 out of 5 rating for me!

    Great Gallery.
I read that The film was first made specifically for India but the repackaged it for the Philippine market.

ceduxi0n - Tell your dad to look for Solid Gold Film its cheap and has great colors and only sold in Manila. There are a couple of reviews here on the site.

@halfawakehaiku - how cheap? i think the last time *i* bought film in the Philippines was when I still lived there.... I think early 1990's? I bought Agfa and Kodak because of the commercials :P I remember them being waaaayyy less than PhP50 back then.

It is available in True Colors Photo Supply in Hidalgo St. Quiapo, Manila. I buy 10 rolls today for any coverage I will do. Still a cheap option for Lucky Film

I love Ultima as well! But it is becoming scarce now. I hope I can get more while it's still available. Nice photos!
