Originally, this was called as the 'Largo de Infante Dom Afonso' (the old Secretariet Square) and was essentially pedestrian in nature, which was ideal to soak it the atmosphere of the architecture around.
Today is a busy vehicular intersection, but is valued for the buildings that shape it.
