20 Analogue Acts of Kindness
10 55 Share TweetSimple acts of kindness sometimes get forgotten amongst the business and busy-ness of everyday life. We’re often too occupied sending that email, editing that playlist or updating our status to pay attention to what’s happening in the real world. Let’s change that! Leave that digital grind behind for a moment and try out some of our analogue acts of kindness – Simple photographic ideas for making a positive impact on the people around you!
1.Make a Photo album of pictures of you and a friend – Give it to them as a surprise present.
2.Offer to lend your camera to a friend or family member.
3.Make a recipe book (if you’re a good cook!) – Take a photo of every meal you make for a week, write the recipe on the back of each print and bon appetit! Give the book to a friend.
4.Share your photographic ideas with friends and strangers (we know a lot of you already do this by writing Tipsters!).
5.Leave a photo you love in a random place – on a table in a restaurant or café, on the bus, in an airport etc.
6.Take a photo of a street musician and give him/her a free print when it’s developed.
7.Teach an analogue photography course for children.
8.Frame a photo and give it to a friend or family member.
9.Sell a selection of your prints and give the proceeds to Charity.
10.Encourage your colleagues to take part in making an office LomoWall – It’s a sure way to bring some analogue light to all your days!
11.Dedicate a photo album to a friend or family member by naming it after them.
12.Give a stranger a single-use film camera – An instant way to make people happy and make a new friend!
13.Take a Spinner 360 photo of you and all your friends, turn it into a big print using the Patchwork Pete technique and put it up at work or school.
14.Surprise a friend by sending them a Lomography Gift Voucher!
15.Send a photo postcard to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.
16.Share a photo you like with your friends on Facebook or Twitter – Go on and spread the analogue love!
17.Hand out your favorite photos to strangers – No advertising, no alternative motive, let’s just flyer the world with beautiful photos!
18.Take an instant photo of some strangers in love and give them the print.
19.Donate any cameras you don’t use to charity.
20.Take a selection of photos which highlight a worthy cause (an old building in threat of demolition, an environmental issue etc.) and send the pictures to a local paper asking for them to be published – You get an image credit and do some good at the same time!
Have you got any other ideas? Post your comments, we’d love to hear them!
