The monument to Prince P.A.Kropotkin was installed in Dmitrov on November 5, 2004 on the street of his own name - Kropotkinskaya. This monument is the creation of the hands of the famous sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov.

Peter Alekseevich Kropotkin was born in 1842 in Moscow. He was a scientist, traveler, geologist, geographer, historian and at the same time anarchist theorist. He studied in the Corps of Pages in St. Petersburg, after graduating from which he went to serve in Siberia. Upon his return to Petersburg, he was arrested for revolutionary activity, spent two years in the Peter and Paul Fortress, then made a daring escape from the Nikolayev Military Hospital and disappeared from the eyes of police snoops.

So began the 40-year period of emigration P. A. Kropotkin, ended only in 1917, after which he settled in Dmitrov. Here, buying a house for the symbolic price of Count Olsufiev (a follower of Leo Tolstoy), he moved in the summer of 1918. And from here in February 1921 the funeral train took him to the last road.
